Last night the 2022 BRIT awards winners were revealed, as ballads won big at the first genderless ceremony. Check out the full list of winners here!

At the start of this year, it was announced that the BRIT awards would do away with gendered categories. This raised some concerns around whether there would be a fair representation of women at the awards. It turned out that more women were nominated than at any other time in the last 10 years. Further to that, over two-thirds of award winners were female artists or female-fronted acts.

Last night (8th Feb), the first genderless BRIT awards took place, with ballads dominating over bangers. Instead, Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year awards were dished out.

The ceremony was hosted by comedian, Mo Gilligan, who has not hosted the awards before. Taking place at the O2 Arena, London, the ceremony featured live performances from Little Simz, Ed Sheeran, and Adele. Thanks to TikTok voting, Dua Lipa beat Adele to the best pop/R&B act.
