Apple announces new premium noise-cancelling headphones, AirPods Max. Available on December 15th, learn more about this latest tech release here!

Following the huge success of AirPods and AirPods Pro, Apple have announced their first over-the-ear wireless noise-cancelling headphones. This is Apple’s first foray into the world of noise-cancelling headphones, and they are suitably high tech and sleek. You can pre-order a pair of AirPods Max for the premium price of $549, with shipping set for the 15th of December.

“AirPods Max feature a 40-mm Apple-designed dynamic driver that provides rich, deep bass, accurate mid-ranges, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension so every note can be heard.” If you’re thinking that you find over-the-ear headphones uncomfortable, maybe these are the headphones for you. The breathable mesh canopy and steel headband have been designed to reduce on-head pressure. Both ear cups attach via a revolutionary mechanism, meaning they rotate to fit the listener’s individual head shape. Six outward-facing microphones work to cancel out external noise, whilst two internal ones measure what you’re hearing to also cancel out noisy distractions.

Just like the AirPods, these headphones boast Siri capabilities. This includes the ability to play music, make phone calls, control the volume, get directions, and more. These headphones should pair perfectly with the new iPhone 12, released in October this year. iPhone 12’s great image and video specs mean that shooting and watching videos will look and sound great with the AirPods Max.

Apple are now competing directly with other noise-cancelling big boys such as Sony, Bose and AKG. Although these brands have years of experience, Apple has gone higher on price for their first attempt. Having said that, these headphones fit into the synergy of the Apple hardware ecosystem, with automatic device switching. Meaning these are an attractive option for devoted Apple customers.
