Never be stumped by a song’s length again when adding background music to your content. Here’s how to make a song longer in GarageBand!

When you have a bunch of hats to wear and plates to spin, as a content creator, you need your search for background music to be as smooth as possible. That’s why, when you do come across the perfect track for your next video, game, or podcast, there’s nothing worse than it being too short.

This might not be so much of an issue when the content you’re creating is short. And, whilst it feels like most people are doing just that, there’s still value in vlogging. Videos longer than 4 or 5 minutes can be hugely popular, and even help businesses grow.

If you are sharing longer video on YouTube, or anywhere for that matter, you’ve probably come up against this issue before: more video than music. Fear not! There’s a simple and speedy way around this, and it won’t involve looking for a different track.

Make Songs Longer in GarageBand

GarageBand is a free DAW that comes with Apple products, like Macs, MacBooks, and iPads. You can record and mix music, as well as alter existing tracks.

Whilst this video was created back in 2014, the process for making a song longer in GarageBand is pretty much the same. It might take some experimentation to find sections that are loopable, but most songs will have instrumental sections. These are perfect, since they’re far less noticeable than if you chop up lyrical parts.

If you aren’t a Mac user, you can still make music longer to fit your videos. You can use other software, like Logic Pro X or even video editing software tools, like DaVinci Resolve.
