Nintendo have spilled the beans over a new console at last. The new Nintendo Switch OLED model goes on sale in October. Full details here!

Just yesterday, we were speculating about the heavily rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro. Numerous sources over the last couple of years have been guessing at new or updated hardware from Nintendo. After a Mario-themed Switch console was released in February this year, there were questions around what would come next.

Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa lately stated that he wished to “refrain from commenting on specific products under development.” So, I guess that means development on this new console has ended. The announcement was made yesterday for a new Nintendo Switch OLED model, along with the price and sales date.

Nintendo Switch OLED Details

The new Switch OLED model will be available to buy from the 8th October, and features a 7-inch OLED screen. You can enjoy all your existing Switch games on the console, but in an even brighter and more vibrant way. The console is available in a chic monochrome colour scheme, or in the classic bright red and blue.

Enhanced audio from onboard speakers means you can experience games with clear, crisp sound when playing in handheld or tabletop mode. A wide, adjustable stand makes playing in tabletop mode more comfortable and customisable. If you prefer TV mode, a built-in LAN port allows you to plug straight in and play. A generous 64 GB of storage is included, meaning you can save countless games.

You can get your hands on this swanky new version of the Nintendo Switch for $349.99. That’s a $50 jump up from the regular Nintendo Switch console, which isn’t too bad. If you value improved displays and higher quality audio, it could be a sound investment. Plus, we think it looks pretty great too!
