After some delay and much anticipation, Valve has confirmed that Steam Deck will begin shipping in February this year. Get the full details here!

Yesterday, Valve announced that the 25th of February is when the first order emails will be sent out to those who have reserved a Steam Deck. “Customers will have 3 days (72 hours) from receipt of their order email to make their purchase, before their reservation is released to the next person in the queue.”

Valve has said that shipping will also commence before February is over. “The first units will be on their way to customers starting the 28th, and we plan to release new order email batches on a weekly cadence.” Press units have been sent out for review, although the review embargo won’t lift until the 25th Feb. However, it has been advised that we keep an eye out for some preview coverage and first impressions before then.

You can try to reserve one now, however you may find yourself in a bit of a queue!

What Is Steam Deck?

Steam Deck is the hotly awaited portable gaming PC from Valve, the company behind the digital game distribution service, Steam. It was first announced back in July 2021, but has faced some delays. This was thanks to supply chain and shortage issues, that have been plaguing the tech industry recently.

Portable gaming has become increasingly popular lately, with Nacon recently releasing a controller to enable Xbox games to be played on the go. The Nintendo Switch has comfortably enjoyed perhaps the highest popularity of all the handheld gaming consoles.

But, Steam Deck will enable gamers to enjoy their favourite PC games whilst on the move too.
