If you want to up your content creation or freelancing game, switching to an Instagram business account is a great place to start. Here’s how you can easily do it!
When starting out on a creative journey of any kind, it’s usually framed as a bit of fun. Only when the wheels are steadily set in motion do we turn our minds towards business.
For instance, you might have started off creating cute crochet trinkets and jewellery, sharing them on Instagram for pleasure. Then, a few friends requested to buy some pieces off you, having seen your profile. You realise this could be the start of a neat little side hustle, and maybe you should start approaching it in a more considered manner. The first step is switching your personal account to an Instagram business account.
Why Switch to a Business Account?
The difference between a personal and business account on Instagram is much more than just the title.
Instagram business accounts give you access to valuable insights and information about your audience. This enables you to understand who your audience is and what they respond to best. Instagram is a powerful marketing tool even for the biggest companies.
Content marketing, no matter the level of the business you are operating, plays a huge role in growing your audience. With a personal account, you are left somewhat taking shots in the dark. Understanding Instagram insights can be a bit of a steep learning curve, but it’s an incredibly valuable wealth of knowledge to acquire.
Owning a business account also gives off a professional and authoritative air to any new people that stumble upon your business. You can also take advantage of advertisements with a business account on Instagram.
How to Switch to a Business Account
Now you know the benefits of owning a business account, it’s time to learn how you can switch over.
Log into Instagram, and head to your profile. Tap the burger menu in the top right corner and hit Settings. From here, tap Account.
Once you’re here, if you scroll to the bottom you will see “Switch to Professional Account” highlighted in blue text. Click this to move to the next step.
You can then scroll through all the benefits to having a business account that Instagram offers. After that, you will need to decide which option, from the provided list, describes your business best.
