Powerful and chilled may seem like a juxtaposition, but it can definitely work, and you’ll hear what we mean. This week’s Synchedin Spotlight is Drown by Dasif!

Dasif is a 17 year old (yes, we felt a bit sick with jealousy too) music producer hailing from North Brabant in the Netherlands. Specialising in electronic music, and part of Future Bass Records with the likes of Maxx Lyon, Dasif shows off their talent through bouncing synths and driven beats.

Drown, released in June 2020, combines the chilled essence of piano and nature sounds, with the energetic and mighty feel of future bass rhythms. The smooth and melodic vocal lulls you, for a moment, into a state of calm, before an electronic snare snaps you out of it. Indicative of usually just one thing, quavers turn to semiquavers to demisemiquavers, and you know what’s coming… Layers of synth pads and leads flash over a heavy bass kick to create that playful drop synonymous with future bass. At 2 minutes 20 seconds, this track is compact but effective when it comes to injecting some determined energy or blissful chill – it can take you either way.

We’re feeling pretty driven and determined over here, working away on some exciting things for you. So, Drown is a fantastic motivator, and makes it a perfect choice for this week’s Synchedin Spotlight. Whack it on and get it done!
