Via the birthdiy label, new to Synchedin artist Bathrobe wows with their atmospheric and dreamy new single Unrequited.

Bathrobe has been on the music scene since the release of their self-titled album Bathrobe back in 2018. Since then, they have released a demo LP titled Belongings + Demos, as well as a second full length studio album Lockdown, aptly named due to it being released in the midst of the worldwide lockdown caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Since their first release in 2018, they’ve spent the past 4 years honing in on their already very poignant sound. While their first self-titled release had a more guitar-driven vibe akin to the likes of Mac Demarco and other birthdiy artists, their later releases dive more into a realm of DIY bedroom dream pop. They achieve this by introducing more synthesised based elements, and utilising “in the box” effects processes to invoke a feeling of nostalgia.

This week’s Synchedin Spotlight, Unrequited, begins with an ambient swell and some highly characteristic bright guitar twinkles. The amazing tone of their guitar here is reminiscent of a softer version of The Cult‘s iconic guitar tone in their groundbreaking album Sonic Temple.

Strong, authentically mixed electronic drums give the dreamy soundscape a sense of drive and purpose. Bathrobe’s reverberant vocals echo across the ambience.

It’s easy to imagine this song accompanying an emotional scene in your latest film project, or perhaps running alongside a particularly dreamy montage in your latest YouTube upload. Let Bathrobe’s beautiful ambience elevate your content to the next level.
