How to Earn Passive Income as a Creator
Make money whilst you sleep? Yes please. Here are some simple ways to earn passive income as a creator that require minimum effort.
What is Passive Income?
The opposite of active, passive income is money generated without you needing to take any further action than creating your original video or asset. People can manage this through stock investments, real estate and licensing fees to name but a few. There may be some elements of upkeep involved depending on which avenue you to take. But generally, it’s money without having to lift a finger!
Royalty Free Music
Are you a dab hand with a DAW? If you know your way around a few instruments and have an ear for a catchy tune, then creating royalty free music is a fantastic way to earn passive income. If you have totally original tracks that you have created, having them uploaded to a site like Synchedin will help you draw in some extra money.
Sound Effects
This is a brilliant method of earning passive income, because creating your own SFX can be loads of fun. Although it can be painstaking work, it can also be as simple as mucking about with your kitchen utensils and editing them using your favourite DAW. Sites like Synchedin enable you to contribute these sounds for other creators to use, generating income for you.
YouTube Videos
YouTube is a great way to make your videos earn money. First thing’s first, you will need to apply for monetisation of your channel through the YouTube Partner Programme, as well as create a Google AdSense account. Channels with at least 1000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in the last 12 months are eligible to apply for these things. If your subscriber count isn’t quite there yet, there are plenty of ways you can gain subscribers for free. The YouTube Partner Programme is available in certain territories, you can find out more about that here.
Once you have created an AdSense account and have been approved by YouTube, you can then join the Multi Channel Network (MCN). Alternatively, you can monetise your channel with your own AdSense account. If you do decide to link your channel with an MCN then AdSense isn’t used and monetisation will be controlled by the MCN.
Stock Photos
If you know your way around a camera, and have access to some basic photo editing software, why not take your own stock photos? There is a whole host of uses for stock photos. They’re great for brightening up marketing campaigns, beautifying websites, padding out YouTube videos, and more.
All you need to do in order to earn money with your photographs, is become a Synchedin image contributor! The process couldn’t be more straightforward. Once you have uploaded your images, you don’t need to lift a finger.
