If you love sharing your content online, maybe you could make some money from it. Find out how to earn money with YouTube right here!

So you’ve been consistent with your output and have noticed a nice following building on your channel. You’re enjoying sharing your craft or insights online and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. They say if you do what you love then you’ll never work a day in your life. Whilst this is a lovely sentiment, work means getting paid. Maybe turning your YouTube passion into work wouldn’t be such a terrible idea? Imagine watching the pennies roll in, gradually gaining momentum until your piggy bank is fit to burst, and you need to start taking your accounts seriously. You’re in business!

First thing’s first, to earn money on YouTube you will need to apply for monetisation of your channel through the YouTube Partner Programme, as well as create an AdSense account. Channels with at least 1000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in the last 12 months are eligible to apply for these things. If your subscriber count isn’t quite there yet, there are plenty of ways you can gain subscribers for free. The YouTube Partner Programme is available in certain territories, you can find out more about that here.

Once you have created an AdSense account and have been approved by YouTube, you can then join the Multi Channel Network (MCN). Alternatively, you can monetise your channel with your own AdSense account. If you do decide to link your channel with an MCN then AdSense isn’t used and monetisation will be controlled by the MCN.
